[Nova's startled to receive the message, even though he'd said he would explain. She's retreated to the room she shares with Skywarp since their return for the most part, wanting the security of a familiar place while she chewed over what she'd seen and heard, and just sort of assumed it would get dropped]
Sure, yeah. I'll head there now, meet you in uhhhh call it twenty?
[It takes a bit longer to find the room than she'd expected. She's never been in it before. Once she steps in and closes the door behind her, she looks up and lets out a startled, unthinking chirp as she looks around]
Oh. Oh, wow. [She doesn't sound scornful or mocking which might come as a surprise, simply surprised in a pleasant sort of way] When you said sheep room, you really-
[A shake of her head, and Nova gingerly picks her way over to him, not wanting to hurt any of the fluffballs. She finally sits with one leg drawn up, cycles her optics as a sheep immediately flops against her leg. Nova starts to reach out to touch them, then pulls her hand back, wary of being clumsy with her own strength and hurting them]
[So she drops her hand back down, and looks over at him for the first time] Yeah. Eden. [She shuffles uncomfortably, and looks away, muttering in his direction] Sorry. For... I didn't know. Still don't, obviously. But I shouldn't have. To you, either.
[Monk chuckled a bit at her reaction to the room, and the sheep. Her hesitation was unwarranted, and it wasn't long before one of the creatures had come over to lay down next to her hand.]
You will not hurt them, they are very resilient.
[He pointed to the sheep.]
Moon likes when you scratch behind his ears.
[He settled back, the smile leaving his face now that the actual topic was at hand.]
You would not have known, very few do. Even I do not know the full story.
[Despite feeling prepared for this he still wasn't entirely sure the clearest way to explain.]
Eden is Skywarp, but she also is not. After...Starscream...she was alone. She used her magic to split herself apart so she would always have someone with her.
[He tugged the sheep on his lap a little closer, his claws digging into the dense wool. His thoughts and feelings on the matter were hard to read. It was just a fact of what had happened, just like the fact he hadn't remembered her after the crash was a fact, or that he also had willingly given up his memories was a fact.]
Eden is one of those parts. She does not know about her old life, and does not want to. Her magic made her a target, and she agreed to come to the R2 with me as Monk, not as Thundercracker.
So while I appreciate you wanting to console her at the time, I would ask that you do not reach out to her about it.
[Nova Storm cycles her optics again down at Moon, then very gingerly begins to scratch behind his ears. Almost immediately he enthusiastically bumps into her hand to demand more scratches, and her reflexive little startled peep turns into a soft laugh]
Yeah, yeah, bossy...
[She relaxes a little as she scratches him with a bit more confidence, but it doesn't last long. She looks up at Monk when he goes quiet, her own face falling in horror as she listens. The idea of being totally alone, no Warp or other seekers or decepticons or anybody... the mere thought of it makes her shoulders hunch, trying to uncomfortably ruffle wings that aren't there]
Y-yeah, [she agrees shakily, burying her own fingers into Moon's wool even though she doesn't grip, she's gripped onto too many things] That's her call. She doesn't wanna know or remember that feeling, she won't hear about it from me. That's-
[Her voicebox clicks and clicks as she tries to say something like 'that's what you do for other seekers' but... she hasn't been. Not for him, or anybody. Not really. She's only been thinking of herself and what she wanted and what she thought. She casts her optics about here and there as she gathers up what scraps she's managed to gather over the past few weeks of thinking that were spurred on further by that disaster, then glances back up at him]
That's what you do, for other seekers, [she says quietly, wincing in shame, and pulls her hand away from Moon to pick and fidget behind her audial to try and self soothe with grooming] Or... you're supposed to. We need to talk about that, too. I guess.
[She looks back at him, then sighs out a huff through her vents] I've been eight kinds of an awful glitch to you. Everybody, mostly. Entirely. And you never did anything to earn it, so...
[She works her mouth for a few seconds, then manages a crooked smile for him]
I'm sorry. Really. You don't remember anything and you don't ever have to, but you're still flock. I should've been looking out for you, and I wasn't. You don't have to accept this either, just... Trying that whole... working on my scrap thing. And I guess this is step one, or whatever.
